To rent a car or participate in a driving experience with Tokyo JDM Tours, you must hold the valid documentation required by the Japanese government to drive on public roads. Please review the following requirements carefully before making a booking.
1. Japanese Driver's License
For residents of Japan. We accept all license colors (Gold, Blue, Green).
2. SOFA License
For US military personnel stationed in Japan. Please ensure the license is valid and not expired.
3. Passport and Foreign Driver's License (with Japanese Translation)
If you hold a driver’s license from the countries/regions listed below, you can drive in Japan only if you carry BOTH your original license and an official Japanese translation issued by JAF or the respective embassy/consulate in Japan.
- Eligible Countries: Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco, Estonia, Taiwan.
4. International Driving Permit (IDP)
You must hold an International Driving Permit issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention.
- IMPORTANT: IDPs issued under other treaties, such as the Vienna Convention, are NOT valid in Japan, even if issued by a country that is a member of the Geneva Convention.
- Validity: The IDP is valid in Japan for one year from the date of issue or one year from the date of your arrival in Japan (whichever is shorter).
Eligible Regions (Geneva Convention):
- Europe: UK, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Greece, Poland, Norway, etc.
- North America: United States, Canada, etc.
- Asia / Oceania: Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, etc.
Note: If you do not hold any of the valid documents mentioned above, you are unfortunately not eligible to drive in Japan and cannot book a driving experience. If you are unsure about your license, please contact us for consultation.
運転免許証の資格について
Tokyo JDM Tours でレンタカーの利用やドライビング体験に参加される方は、日本政府の規定に基づき、日本の公道を走行するための有効な書類を保持している必要があります。ご予約の前に、以下の条件を必ずご確認ください。
1. 日本の運転免許証
日本国内にお住まいの方用の免許証です。全色（ゴールド・ブルー・グリーン）受け付け可能です。
2. SOFA免許
在日米軍関係者向けの免許証です。有効期限内であることをご確認ください。
3. 外国免許証 ＋ 日本語翻訳文
以下の国・地域の発行免許をお持ちの方は、**「免許証の原本」と、JAFまたは各国の駐日大使館・領事館が発行した「公式な日本語翻訳文」**を両方携帯することで運転可能です。
- 対象国： スイス、ドイツ、フランス、ベルギー、モナコ、エストニア、台湾
4. 国際運転免許証 (IDP)
1949年ジュネーブ条約に基づく国際免許証のみ有効です。
- 【重要】 ウィーン条約など、他の条約に基づく国際免許証は、たとえ発行国がジュネーブ条約締結国であっても日本では一切使用できません。
- 有効期限： 発行から1年、かつ日本入国から1年以内である必要があります。
主な対象国・地域（ジュネーブ条約締結国）：
- 欧州： イギリス、イタリア、スペイン、オランダ、ギリシャ、ポーランド、ノルウェー等
- 北米： アメリカ合衆国、カナダ等
- アジア・オセアニア： タイ、シンガポール、マレーシア、韓国、フィリピン、オーストラリア、ニュージーランド、香港等
備考： 上記のいずれの条件も満たさない場合、残念ながら日本で運転することはできず、ご予約を承ることができません。ご自身の免許が有効かご不明な場合は、お気軽にお問い合わせください。
